Happy Happy Birthday, Eric Dear!!!

Sunday was Eric's 2nd birthday! We celebrated by having Thomas the Train cake and opening presents at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

I think it made him a little bit nervous when all of his relatives were singing Happy Birthday. It took a couple of tries, but he blew the candle out all by himself.
Up until recently, Eric has not liked sweets. I wasn't sure if he would eat his birthday cake or not. I guess maybe his sweet tooth came in with his two-year molars because he gobbled up every crumb of his big piece of cake.
I made him a Thomas quilt for his birthday. He also got a ton of toys and some really cute clothes.

We love our Eric!!!

A Visit From Grandma

My mom came out in the middle of August to stay with us for 3 weeks. The boys loved having Grandma here. Here are the boys taking a break from swinging to have a snack at the park across the street. I think Matty and I were making blueberry muffins.
Here are the boys all ready for church.
And playing in our pool on the back deck.
We took Grandma down to the beach. She hadn't ever been to the Atlantic Ocean before. The morning was a little stormy. We went to the Aquarium first. Eric loved seeing the Alligators.
And they both loved the turtles.
Here is Eric with Grandma looking at some fishies.
And Matty and Eric watching the sharks.

The weather cleared up some in the afternoon and we went to the beach. It was sunny, but very windy.

Matty loved playing in the waves.

Eric wasn't too sure about the ocean. He got knocked down by a big wave and didn't like it very much. But he loved playing in the sand.
Matty loved playing in the sand too.

We had originally planned on taking a trip up to Mt. Vernon, but the day we were planning on going was the day Tropical Storm Hanna came through so we decided staying home was a good idea. I took Mom to the airport at 5:30am Tuesday so she could fly home. Later that day when Eric woke up he wandered around the house saying "Gamma Mewanie, air are you?" looking for her.

The boys have been playing together really well. They are so cute together, I can't help but take pictures all of the time!
The boys really enjoy playing Super Heroes lately. The cape Matty has on was Michael's when he was little. It's got 2 M's, separated by a lightning bolt, which stands for Mighty Matty (used to be Mighty Michael).
Back in August we had a church picnic at the lake. There were canoes, so we took the boys out in one and they loved it.
Then they swam in the lake for a while.
